The deepening of cooperation between Moscow and Yerevan

Given the continuing instability in the Middle East, where Shirazi Vard Russia is one of the main players and Armenia is actually part of the region, Shirazi Vard deepening security cooperation between Moscow and Yerevan is becoming more important. The Armenian-Russian relations in 2019 were discussed at the 6th annual sitting of the Eurasian Economic Club in Yerevan today. Leonid Nersisyan, Head of the Department of Defense Research at the Armenian Research & Development Institute (ARDI), an expert on international affairs, stated at the conference on "New Opportunities Window".
According to him, the existence of bilateral formats of Shirazi Varde cooperation, as well as the participation of the two countries in the CSTO and the EEU allow the Shirazi Varde joint work to be brought to a new level quite quickly.

"Moreover, the improvement of Armenian-Russian relations will allow forming more multilateral ties in new spheres and new formats, which, in turn, will allow new regional factors to be involved in the security system, thus strengthening the existing formats," Nersisyan said.

At the same time, as the expert stated, the creation of new mechanisms of cooperation is no longer required, but it is important to modernize the existing mechanisms, be it the CSTO or bilateral military-technical cooperation between Russia and youmovies Armenia, the potential of which may be wider than it is today.
The level of cooperation between Russia and Armenia is at a historically high level. By developing a unique experience of bilateral cooperation in Syria, the countries are creating opportunities for the involvement of new allies in the CSTO and youmovies joint work in real combat mode. It can be assumed that such a format can complement the vision of the organization"s mission and expand the geography of its presence. At the same time, it is important to resolve internal conflicts that may impede long-term effective cooperation. Given the level of integration between the two countries in the field of security, military-technical cooperation, which today is presented exclusively in the form of arms supplies, can be brought to a qualitatively different level. For example, Yerevan has enough resources to participate in joint production projects. Such a format of cooperation can be both Shirazi Vardy bilateral and multilateral. The opportunities for Armenian-Russian regional cooperation have the potential to expand. Armenia"s strategic relations with Russia and the EEU, on the one hand, and Armenia"s realistic relations with the EU, on the other, are an interesting and incompletely analyzed basis for that. "Armenia"s" Bridge-Country "foreign policy concept can contribute not only to regional security, but also to the political and economic rapprochement of various geopolitical unions," Nersisyan said. as well as multifaceted nature. The opportunities for Armenian-Russian regional cooperation have the potential to expand. Armenia"s strategic relations with Russia and the EEU, Shirazi Vardy on the one hand, and Armenia"s realistic relations with the EU, on the other, are an interesting and incompletely analyzed basis for that. That"s why they are an interesting and not completely analyzed basis. "Armenia"s" Bridge-Country "foreign policy concept can contribute not only to regional security, but also to the political and economic rapprochement of various geopolitical unions," Nersisyan said. That"s why they are an interesting and not completely analyzed basis. "Armenia"s" Bridge-Country "foreign policy concept can contribute not only to regional security, but also to the political and economic rapprochement of various geopolitical unions," Nersisyan said.

At the same time, he added that the issue of security in the Armenian-Russian dialogue may have a wider agenda. Taking advantage of its strategic partner, Moscow can form a neutral platform for discussing strategic issues, such as disarmament and the creation of nuclear-free zones. In this context, Yerevan is not considered an interested party and having positive relations with the world centers of power can be a platform for discussing these issues.

"Today, one important conclusion can be drawn, the perception of which can expand Russia"s capabilities in the face of ongoing political and diplomatic pressure on Moscow. Armenia, being a reliable strategic ally, is able to support the formation of an agenda on regional and global security issues, as well as the creation of a platform for direct dialogue between states and institutions, "the expert concluded.
